Customer screen & pickup board

A spare monitor or tablet, turned to face the guest: it shows the order as you ring it up, and — for counter service — calls orders out when the kitchen is done.

The customer screen

A second screen facing the guest, showing each item and the running total as the cashier adds it. Between sales it shows whatever you choose — your logo, a slideshow, or a video.

  1. Turn it on under Settings → Customer display.
  2. Set what shows when nothing is being rung up: a video, a slideshow of images, or your logo and a headline. If you set more than one, the video wins, then the slideshow, then the logo.
  3. On the POS, tap Customer screen. FoodFlow opens it on your second monitor if it can see one, and in a pop-up window otherwise — drag that to the other screen and full-screen it.
The two screens talk to each other on the same computer only, directly between browser windows. That makes it instant and keeps it working when the internet hiccups — but it also means the display has to be a second monitor on the till machine, not a tablet on the far side of the room.

Paying by QR on the customer screen

When you take a PromptPay payment, the QR appears on the guest's screen at full size with the amount already in it — they scan it where they are standing instead of leaning over the till. The code is drawn on that screen itself rather than mirrored across as a picture, so it stays sharp enough to scan first time.

The pickup board

For counter service, where a guest orders, pays and waits: the board shows order numbers moving from Preparing to Ready, so nobody has to be called by name across a room.

  1. Turn on Settings → Counter service so a counter sale fires its items to the kitchen the moment it is rung up, rather than waiting to be sent.
  2. Open the order-status board on the screen your guests can see, and put it full-screen.
  3. The kitchen marks items ready as usual — see Kitchen display — and the board follows.
Paying and serving are kept separate on purpose. Closing a bill early never removes food from the kitchen screen: a paid ticket with items still cooking stays on the kitchen display until they are served.

What hardware you need

Any screen the till computer can drive — a cheap monitor, an old TV over HDMI, or a tablet running a second browser window on the same machine. Both screens are just web pages, so there is nothing to install.
